Due to last minute withdrawal of our Duffer members from the game last Saturday (15th August 2009) afternoon, we have decided to postpone Raymond Cup to a later date, and only play the Duffer Cup. Through the last minute scramble, we managed to fill up all the 20 slots, thanks to William and Gordon.
The day started on shaky grounds as the sky was laden with threatening gray clouds in the morning. In fact it rained in the late morning. Fortunately for us, the rain stopped on time for our 5 flights to tee-off at 12 noon.
As if Mother Nature knows of our tradition at our Turning Point, rain came down hard mid-way through our second round, forcing all of us to congregate at our favourite drink hole. This is our chance for some bonding and camaraderie, and of course, a chance at Tequila and/or Whiskey shots. This time, the rain you may say came in handy.
The game ended with drink and light snack at 19th hole. After shower, we headed to First-Stop Ubin restaurant for our seafood dinner (feast) and yum-sengs. I like the steamed lobster and fried mee suah. For others, their favourite will probable be Cordon Bleu or Remy Martell.
It was a re-sounding yes for Oh-Nee (yam paste) for dessert. Ask those who were there and they will agree that Steven Black does very good sign language which speaks a thousand words. We also hear about “Aiyoh, break so much” putt from our first flight. Guess who said from ?
I hope that everyone had a good time and is looking forward to Raymond Cup later this year. It was all agreed and decided that Raymond Cup Champion and Lychee winners attendance is prerequisite for Raymond Cup. So, past winners, please take note.

RESULTS
Captain’s Team was victorious. This time, our Vice-Captain played well (32 points) but somehow his team did not perform as well. Heard from the birds, it could be due to the lack of encouragement from Mr Loi.
Vice-Captain gave away the Duffers’ Cup to Captain Raymond. Each member of Captain’s team received a sleeve of balls.
Best Player with 39 points was Jason Wong. He won a box of balls.
For the defeated Vice-Captain’s team, each member received an experienced ball each from the Captain’s team member to help them in the challenge next year.
Organiser of the next Duffer’s Cup is Vice-Captain, Mr Alan Loi.
