11th. October 2008, this is an important day for the Changi Duffers. On that day, the Changi Duffers will be competing in our annual event – the Raymond Cup. Making the event even more interesting, we are blending this annual event together with our Captain vs Vice Captain game, which we did not complete the last time. 2 trophies (Raymond Cup & Duffers Cup) in one game.
Weather on the day was good, most of our Duffers members signed in for the game before noon and we also have some invited guests to grace the event.
On that sunny Saturday afternoon, the narrow fairways of the Changi golf course, golfers in black and green shirts, representing the Captain and Vice Captain team respectively, were spotted in every tee boxes, fairways and greens. The competition was going aggressively, yet laughter and friendly remarks is not absent. This is the Duffers’ spirit.
One by one, all the worn-out golfers started to return to base, seeping cold beers, joke about the funny moments earlier on greens in the beautiful backdrop of CGC sunset. Willie, however, has no time to enjoy the session as he was busy collecting and tabulating scores for the final result. Later, some began to leave for their shower, followed by others.
Our next destination is the ThaiPan restaurant located in Civil Service Club. Paul, the restaurant owner, had given us a private room to dine. (or rather he knows that we will be a very noisy group) The Martell XO sponsored by our Captain, Raymond, started to go round the tables before dinner. Under the influence of alcohol, everybody is intoxicated, and the atmosphere getting rowdy and high. When the friendly waitress started to serve our dinner, the foods disappeared almost instantly into the hungry duffers’ stomach. In general, the foods were delicious, except the fish and the desert.
After diner, we headed back to Changi Golf Club KTV room. Our guest Ow entertained us with a few Chinese song, the rest did not sing, but waiting for the highlight of the day – result and prize presentation.
The Raymond Cup was won by Daryl Wong, our Lychee turn durian. Daryl had set a positive example to all of us. Cheers, Daryl.
The Duffers cup went to the Vice Captain team with overwhelming result, despite the very poor performance of the Vice Captain himself.
When the final curtain is drawn, I am sure all of us are driving home leaving an enjoyable, fun-filled day of golf outing to remember in the Changi Duffer’s diary.

Duffer's Cup - 7th. June 2008
This is our second game held on 7th June 2008 morning. The 20 participants were split into 2 teams. The team in black played for our Captain (Raymond) and the other team in green played for the Vice-Captain (Alan). The team with the higher team stable-ford point would win the Duffer’s Cup.
Everyone was all charged up and ready for the battle.
Unfortunately, after just 5 holes, we were all held at ransom at the Turning Point by Mr Rain.
Whilst being in “captive” at Turning Point, we all had our lethal Shot which proved to be too much for some. Our spirits were kept high by keeping our stomach filled with food and drinks. Miss Luck’s visit was also another highlight of our stay there.
After all the drink and fun, our Captain is so exhausted, and decided to release his stress.
Our patience and persistence did not manage to convince Miss Sunny to come out of hiding. Finally, after about 2 hours of waiting, the rain was stilling pouring, we decided to bail out and return to the clubhouse.
We had been looking forward to a victory celebration. Needless to say, it was a disappointing day for all of us. We were all dressed and had nowhere to go, except for our banquet lunch.
As the group is still keen on an outcome, Ivan has agreed to help organise the match for another day before our next game in August (Lychee game).
The Duffer’s Cup is a beautiful trophy of a golfer making a swing with his golf club, similar to our logo. At the moment, it is undergoing some enhancement works under the tender care of Richard. It can be sure that all of us cannot wait to make our mark on this trophy.
Our sincere gratitude to our generous sponsors for Duffer’s Cup:
· Chee Cheow Eng Tequila, $100 cash, caps
· Alan Loi Duffer’s Cup (specially delivery by Daryl)
· Alfie Lee Balls
May the worriers of the Captain and Vice Captain meet again for a deciding match very soon.

Inaugural game, 5th. April ,2008
As the Changi duffers is a newly formed group, most of the members are highly enthusiastic to have a mini competition among them to commemorate the birth of the Changi Duffers. Since we are also relatively inexperience in organizing golf events, the Duffers decided to have an Inaugural Game in the home club to try out and gather experience for future outside events.
In the morning of 5th. April, 20 Duffers assembly at the 1st. tee box of Changi Golf Club to start off the awaited first event. The weather was perfect for golf throughout the game, each and every Duffers returned to the 19th. hole with a lot of fun, and the fun extended beyond the lunch and prize presentation.
The game was played on stableford format. Jason Wong clinched the first prize without much surprise. The second place was taken up by our 18 years old rising star, Tom. Our veteran, Koh, had once again proved to us that senior golfer is not a push over by winning a close third. Last but not least, our three "lychee" Duffers had pledged not to drink this special drink in future tournament.
At about 3.00 PM, the curtain drawn for this successful event, with thanks to all Duffers, especially to the organizing committee.
